The History Of Hellraiser & The Cenobites

The first Hellraiser film was released onto the screens back in 1987 and saw a revolved around a home in the suberbs. The story begins as a man called Frank buys Lemarchand’s antique puzzle box from a shop which he takes back to his home and solves, once solved the puzzle box contains something more sinister that Frank could have ever imagined. The solving of the puzzle causes hooked chains to shoot out of the puzzle box, empailing Frank’s flesh, this allows the Cenobites to enter the human world from tehir own world to inspect Frank’s remains. The story continues with Frank becoming a Cenobite and commanding his ex-lover (sister in law) to bring him more humans so he can ‘feed’ and regenerate.

The Cenobites are a race of demons, once human, who devour the flesh of the living on earth and convert them into Cenobites. In the first few movies there were 3 main Cenobites, Pinhead (the leader), Butterball, and Chatterer, all of whom are as equally as scary. Pinhead is the leader of the Cenobites and the horrific looking with the nails sticking out of his head, Butterball is an obese Cenobite and rather than being scary he is more disgusting. The final Cenobite is Chatterer and he is dubbed as the right hand man of Pinhead and listens to his every command.
